1. To examine the legal status of Myanmar women migrants in Thailand and its implications – This includes identifying the types of legal status (work permits, visas, undocumented status, etc.) among participants and understanding how these statuses affect their daily lives (e.g. work, mobility, security).
2. To assess the health conditions and healthcare access of Myanmar migrant women – This involves gathering information on common health issues, health behaviors, and the extent of access to healthcare services (e.g., use of clinics/hospitals, barriers faced in obtaining care).
3. To explore the relationship between legal status and health outcomes – Through qualitative interviews, the study will delve into how legal vulnerabilities (such as lack of documentation or fear of deportation) might influence health decisions, stress levels, and overall well-being. We aim to uncover personal experiences that illustrate how legal and health issues intersect (for example, avoiding hospital visits due to fear of being reported).
4. To identify challenges and coping strategies – The study will document the key challenges these women face related to migration (e.g., bureaucracy, discrimination) and health (e.g., inability to buy insurance, language barriers in hospitals). It will also note any coping mechanisms or support networks they use.
5. To provide recommendations – Based on the findings, the study will suggest evidence-based recommendations for policymakers, healthcare providers, and community organizations to improve legal protections and health services for migrant women from Myanmar.
